I have a master’s degree in elementary reading and literacy, with endorsements in reading and teaching English to students of other languages (TESOL). My doctorate is in teacher leadership with my dissertation focusing on the impact of instructional coaching with teachers. I have experience as a school and district level instructional coach and am currently a part-time faculty with an online university I have facilitated courses for teaching diverse learners and reading methodologies.

I am a member of the International Literacy Association (ILA) as well as the New Mexico chapter of the ILA and am currently serving as president for the state organization. I have presented at the national, state, and district level on topics of literacy instruction and practices. I recently collaborated on an article titled Three Perspectives of Planning, Implementation, and Consistency in Instructional Coaching which was published in Journal of Educational Research and Practice.
I am interested in best practices for classroom instruction, especially in reading and literacy, as well as coaching teachers on strategies and approaches for best instructional practices, professional development on classroom instruction and teacher leadership at the district and school level.
On a more personal note, I am originally from Alabama but have lived in New Mexico now for more than half my life! I am married and am "owned" by three delightful felines.
I love spending time with my family in Alabama via Skype or Face Time. I am an avid reader and enjoy spending down time reading, hanging out with my husband, and watching the sunrise or sunset from my porch with a cup of coffee where I have a gorgeous view of our magnificent Organ Mountains.
